Amidst the pink-marble-clad grand lobby space of 190 S. LaSalle floats a new Bow Truss coffee kiosk designed by BOX Studios. The intent of this transformation was to elevate a static, under-utilized entrance expanse into a destination location for the building’s occupants and visitors.
Challenged with how to seamlessly integrate a modern design into the existing traditional foyer, BOX Studios successfully created a buzzing gathering spot, perfectly proportionate under the striking 30-foot ceilings.
Simple shapes, clean lines, and a monochromatic black and white color palette compliment the lobby’s existing character, while custom lacquered wood millwork further enriches the traditional detailing of the building’s original charm. Adding a layer of durability and maintainability are the Carrera marble-like quartz counter surfaces throughout the kiosk.
A final homage is paid to the existing brass detailing of the building with brass accents on cabinet hardware and Bow Truss signage, finishing the design of the kiosk with a classic yet transitional appeal.
