The logistical challenges facing the creation of Chubb Insurance’s new Latin American Headquarters — a site in Miami, an architect of record in Chicago, a design architect in Mexico City, a client from Philadelphia — speak for themselves. But BOX Studios and its partners used them advantageously, supplying a diversity of voices and a singular focus to fully rejuvenate a space while that space remained in use.
Once plain and modestly lit, the reinvigorated headquarters now beams with bright light and bold splashes of color, with the open office sorted into color-coded quadrants that give each section its own distinct energy.
A mix of workstations, conference rooms and meeting spots spread out across one and a half floors (downsized from two, per client wishes) and find balance between square footage efficiency and breathable space.
A lower-level wellness room provides an immersive temporary escape, while a expansive upper-level work cafe — adorned in comfortable seating, ornate millwork and greenery everywhere in between — stands out as the centerpiece of the office.
Both attractions encourage cross-traffic between floors, ensuring that geographic separation need not equate to employee division — a small but crucial consideration made possible by four teams in four cities who understand it matters more to be on the same page than in the same place.
