Porter Kitchen & Deck is a 260-seat restaurant featuring a 75-seat outdoor patio, located at the base of the award-winning 54-story skyscraper at 150 North Riverside, along the Chicago River. The design offers an intimate main dining room complemented by a variety of private and semi-private spaces, as well as a highly sought-after patio with sweeping views of the riverside cityscape.
BOX Studios collaborated closely with Studio K to bring Four Corners’ (the hospitality division of Sterling Bay) vision to life. BOX’s scope included design detailing, coordination, and permitting for the restaurant, along with active participation throughout the construction administration process. Key challenges involved addressing the specialized requirements of the commercial kitchen, integrating acoustical detailing within the open dining area, and strategically resolving the exit capacity for the two-tiered patio and deck.
