U.S. cellphone giant, Verizon Wireless, sought to establish a cutting-edge flagship store in the heart of Chicago and strategically chose the prestigious Magnificent Mile on North Michigan Avenue for its location. The client’s out-of-state design firm selected BOX Studios to serve as the local architect of record and to be the “boots on the ground” during the project's construction phase.
Working closely with the client, design team, and general contractor, our collective efforts focused on revitalizing a 4-story, 27,000 square foot building through an extensive renovation and repurposing initiative. To meet the client's ambitious goal of opening on Black Friday, the team meticulously coordinated milestones and schedules, optimizing efficiency at every turn. Recognizing the urgency of the timeline, the project group adopted a dual approach, tackling both exterior and interior aspects independently. Milestones and schedules were developed, then cross-referenced for efficiency. It was also determined that a two-work-shifts approach allowed for an accelerated pace throughout the expedited 10-month construction period.
Despite the challenges posed by the compressed timeframe, the team remained steadfast, and the project culminated in a successful completion, meeting deadlines, staying within budget constraints, and upholding uncompromising standards of quality. The new flagship store stands as a testament to our collaborative spirit, dedication, and unwavering pursuit of excellence.
