CHICAGO, IL | 6,200 SF
Renowned for their skills in the specialized field of plastic surgery procedures, XSculpt was looking to elevate their office presence and relocate from the northern suburbs to the bustling city of Chicago.
The client found the perfect spot that met most of their programmatic needs and chose general contractor BIG Construction to develop a budget for the project. To simplify the process, the client wanted one main point of contact and a streamlined process, so it was decided that a Design/Build approach would be best.
BOX Studios was selected to join the project team, offering creative yet cost-conscious solutions. Given the client’s limited budget, it was decided that the scope of work should focus on minor architectural updates, upgraded finishes, decorative lighting, and a custom millwork reception desk. Cost-saving measures included replacing existing light fixture lamps with energy efficient LED ones, providing new treatment room millwork cabinetry to replace existing in the same location to limit plumbing and electrical rework.
During construction demolition, it was revealed that existing infrastructures such as HVAC, low-voltage electrical, and ceiling structure were inadequate. Through a collaborative effort, BOX and BIG Construction strategically made decisions that kept costs down while creating the best visual impact. As an example, instead of redesigning the existing lighting layout, BOX utilized existing electrical box locations for new light fixtures that were budget-friendly, provided adequate light levels, and elevated the overall look of the new office.
To round out the final design, BOX coordinated with the client’s furniture dealer to make selections for furniture and associated finishes.
